Book Fair Day

by Lynn Plourde
Illustrated by Thor Wickstrom
Dutton Children’s Books, 2006

Book Fair Day was tomorrow.
And everyone in Mrs. Shepherd’s class was anxious to buy
a new book or two at the book fair, especially . . .

Dewey Booker.

Dewey LOVED books more than he loved bubblegum,
baseball cards, and bike-riding.

A booklover on Book Fair Day! What could go wrong? Dewey gives a big grooooooan when he discovers Mrs. Shepherd’s class will be the last class to go to the Book Fair in the library. He’s certain there won’t be any books left by then so he’s determined to find a way into the Book Fair earlier in the day. But getting on his knees and sneaking in with the kindergarten class doesn’t work. Climbing in the library window at recess doesn’t work either. Someone seems to be spying on him and letting Mrs. Shepherd know he’s at the Book Fair too early. Who is the spy? And will Dewey be bookless at the end of the day?
